The 59th Annual Grammy Awards had its fair share of viral social media tweets and reactions and videos. Besides, Bruno Mars singing “Purple Rain” beautifully, it was Adele who stole the show.
Adele took a second take to the song ‘FastLove’, a tribute to George Michael. She stopped her performance in between and later blamed it on her ear monitors, saying that her ears were not working well (probably a frequency problem with the monitors). She broke up her performance in between and said, “I f**ked up, I can’t do it again like last year”, talking about her last year performance of “All I Ask” at Grammys, that was troubled by technical errors. She asked for a second chance, saying, “I can’t mess this up for him”. She received a standing ovation and roaring cheers after her great performance.
Winning all 5 Grammy awards [Album of the Year, Song of the Year, Record of the Year, Best Pop Solo Performance and Best Pop Vocal Album] that she was nominated for, the final emotional acceptance speech that she gave while accepting the Album of the Year award left the media in frenzy. Winning against Beyonce’s hit album, Lemonade, Adele called Beyonce as the artist of her life. She called Lemonade as “so well-thought out, and so beautiful and soul-baring”. It almost felt as if Adele was pointing out that Beyonce was the rightful winner.
While Adele and Beyonce appreciated each other, on stage and off-stage respectively, a surprisingly big team of 16 anonymous males in suits, mostly from the recording company took to stage to share the limelight. It was so awkward.
Apart from that, she even snapped the Grammy in half and if rumors have it, she offered a half to Beyonce. But, before you get all high-pitched with your ‘Whaaaaaat!’, the Grammy awards that are given on stage is just a replica, just in case the winner of the award gets emotional and drops it or breaks it, as in the case of Adele. Later on, she was given the real Grammy, Gramophone memento and the broken pieces were taken from her.
