United Kacche Trailer: Sunil Grover’s dramedy puts a comic spin on immigrants in UK

The trailer of his upcoming web series ‘United Kachche’ has been released, showcasing a different style of the seasoned actor. Grover is grabbing a lot of headlines regarding his series.

United Kacche will be released on the OTT platform Zee5 month. Set in the United Kingdom, the series throws some light on the struggles of immigrants living in London. Looking at the trailer, it seems that the series seems does not take itself too seriously and instead, tries to be a dramedy.

Directed by Manav Shah, United Kacche shows a glimpse of the life of a man who wants to leave his home, city, and country and go to England in search of a better life and for this he is ready to pay any price. To fulfill his dream of going to the country, Tejinder ‘Tango’ Gill (Sunil) from Punjab mortgages his paternal grandfather’s land and when he reaches England, he lands into numerous problems.

Tejinder gets half a sofa to sleep on in a house that he shares with citizens of Pakistan and Bangladesh. While living in a rented house, he falls in love with the daughter of the landlord. What happens next in this series will only come to light after its streaming.

Besides Grover, actors like Satish Shah, Sapna Pabbi, Nikhil Vijay, Nayani Dixit, Manu Rishi Chadha, and Neelu Kohli will also be seen in this series.

Raj and DK are popular names when it comes to OTT. They have given two amazing seasons of ‘Family Man’ and it is also possible that the third season of the popular series may come back with a bang soon. It is said that the duo had offered Shahid Kapoor a crime drama film some nine years ago, but things couldn’t turn into reality then, and ultimately reached the stage where it was stretched to the point of making it into a web series. Now available on Prime Video in the form of ‘Farzi’, the series consists of eight episodes of about an hour each.

‘Farzi’ sees an expansion of the universe of patriots created by Raj and DK. It seems like the series is made for Shahid Kapoor, and right from the beginning, he is playing this character keeping in mind that he is Shahid Kapoor. Barring one or two emotional scenes, Kapoor’s swag gives his character Sunny a lot of leeway to flaunt in this series.

Shahid Kapoor regained his charisma on the big screen with the film ‘Kabir Singh’. Then three years later, he lost it in the film ‘Jersey’. The creators of ‘Farzi’, Raj and DK, have tried to cash in on Shahid’s charisma from ‘Kabir Singh’ in the newly released web series.

However, after finishing the series, it feels that Raj and DK have repeated themselves by crafting a cocktail of the story of the counterfeit currency business in contemporary politics. And, because of this, ‘Farzi’ is neither able to serve anything different through Shahid Kapoor’s performance nor does it expand the aura of Raj and DK as creators. The series feels ineffective at the level of story, screenplay, and dialogue, and all the focus is on Shahid Kapoor, expecting him to take everything on his shoulders.

Interestingly, it is Vijay Sethupathi who shines here. His Hindi spoken with a South Indian accent is amazing. Although the series does not show a direct confrontation between Shahid and Vijay, but Raj and DK have tried to surprise the audience.

Among the actors who have done excellent work in the web series, Kay Kay Menon is at the top. Presenting human nature through his facial expressions has been included in his charisma since the beginning. He is getting a lot of opportunities to show his acting range on OTT and he is making the best out of it. The presence of Amol Palekar is there to enhance the story expansion and he also gives his full contribution to it. Rashi Khanna’s character is well crafted. With the web series ‘Rudra’ she has moved a step ahead here. The kind of curiosity Rashi Khanna creates through her character is worth noting. There is a different kind of natural charm in her acting, and it is this charm that makes her one of the best actors in OTT. And, the one actor who has impressed everyone with his performance in ‘Farzi’ is Bhuvan Arora. Whenever he is away from the story, the audience starts missing him and that is the biggest victory of an actor.

The dialogues of ‘Farzi’ can be researched separately in the name of the screenplay. The creative team of Prime Video should also explore if all these are equally important in a series made in Hindi. When there was so much knowledge to be imparted on the business of counterfeit notes, then could only releasing it with an adult badge increase the number of views?

Verdict

Raj and DK experimented a lot on the big screen with films like ‘Go Goa Gone’, ‘Happy Ending’, and ‘A Gentleman’ but things didn’t work there because they got overconfident. Even in the web series ‘Farzi’, both are seen repeating the same mistake again. Here, they show the story less and tell it more. Cinema is a medium of presentation. It is the biggest responsibility of the director to save it from becoming a radio drama. The problem here is that there is nothing real in the web series ‘Farzi’ (no pun intended) which only tries to shine on Shahid Kapoor and Vijay Sethupathi’s names. Everything is what the audience has already seen in Shahid Kapoor’s movies and Raj, DK’s series.

Story

Chhatriwali is the story of a family living in Karnal. It revolves around Sanya Dhingra (Rakul Preet Singh), a chemistry teacher who takes tuitions to support her family and is looking for a full-time job. Sanya meets Ratan Lamba (Satish Kaushik) and seeing his knowledge of chemistry, he offers Sanya to become the head of quality inspection in his condom company.

Initially, Sanya hesitates a lot about the job. But when she understands the importance of her job, then she accepts her role and her work. But unfortunately, due to this job, Sanya has to face a lot of problems in her personal life. Can Sanya fight these difficulties and convince her family to continue her job?

When it comes to women-oriented topics, our society does not like to talk openly. Irrespective of the city, the mentality is still the same as that of the village that women’s health is not a priority at home. And, this is probably because women also find themselves vulnerable on such occasions. Why she is sitting away from the stove during those four days of the month, she does not openly tell her own children. When children are becoming teenagers, the physical changes in them arouse curiosity in them. They want to know what it is that they are feeling. Even teachers who teach biology get away with a lesson on reproductive organs. The specialty of the film ‘Chhatriwali’ is that it does not just talk about the need to use condoms, but catches the problem from the root and stays on it till the end.

It is challenging for a director to present the subject of any film in the way he or she intends to. Tejas Prabha Vijay Devskar, the director of Chhatriwali, has been successful in this task. The interesting opening of the film instantly makes you a part of Chhatriwali’s world. Along with the acting of Rakul Preet Singh, Satish Kaushik, and Sumeet Vyas, the credit for the success of this film goes to its story and screenplay written by Sanchit Gupta and Priyadarshi Srivastava.

In a way, the film ‘Chhatriwali’ is such a lesson for children struggling with the lack of sex education in the country, which is mandatory to be taught in every school, but few people want to teach it. The film begins on the lines of the very recent film ‘Janhit Mein Jaari’. Initially, it seems that this is just another film based on the same story, but the film’s writing duo Sanchit Gupta and Priyadarshi Srivastava soon kick into second gear. Incorporating the idioms prevalent in North India into their dialogues, the writer duo soon sets the course for Sanya, the lead actress of the story.

Director Tejas Prabha Vijay Deoskar has made a good team in this regard. He also develops the story very neatly with the help of his writers. He opens each page of the enigmatic subject very comfortably and once the viewer starts hooking up to the story, he takes it to a place where everything seems to be relatable. In such films, songs and music do not become of special importance and here also the issue comes in this department only.

Many Bollywood films try to focus on a particular issue, but in the attempt, most of them fail badly. Luckily, Chhatriwali is different. It continues to explain its point in a very simple way with humor without becoming a didactic film. It does not try to preach but still manages to throw light on topics like conservatism, equality, and the right to education. Alongside this, the film also maintains its grip with the help of situational humour.

Verdict

A sensitive subject has been presented smoothly in Chhatriwali. It is one of the films that adolescent children should watch and if possible the state governments should take the initiative to show this film free of cost in all junior high schools. Overall, K Chhatriwali entertains as well as gives a positive message without getting didactic.

In this spectacular trailer of 2 minutes and 50 seconds, we see the beautiful friendship of Amitabh, Anupam, Boman, and Danny. Like other Sooraj Barjatya films, this too is a family film, narrating the life story of four friends who try their best to make a seemingly impossible dream come true.

The trailer of the film is full of emotion, love, and inspiration. It shows how Amitabh Bachchan, Boman Irani, and Anupam Kher dream of climbing Mount Everest at this stage of age for a friend and leave for the base camp. However, anyone who hears about his dream advises him to return.

But, the gang does not listen to anyone and leave for the trek. During this, they have to pass through rain, snow, and rough roads. but they don’t give up. At the end of the trailer, only Amitabh Bachchan is seen reaching the base camp of Mount Everest, seeing that only one question arises in everyone’s mind. Do Anupam Kher and Boman Irani give up during the trek?

The trailer also gives glimpses of three female leads Parineeti, Neena, and Sarika. Neena Gupta is seen in the character of Boman Irani’s wife. At the same time, not much has been shown about Sarika’s character. Bhupen’s favorite song ‘Yeh Jeevan Hai’ in Big B’s voice at the end of the trailer gives a different feel. Significantly, this song is a classic song of Rajshri Production.

The film will hit theaters on November 11.

Rangbaaz 3: Rangbaaz’s new season is back on Zee5

After the tremendous success of the first two seasons of gangster drama ‘Rangbaaz’, Zee5 has now announced another season of the hit show. Written by Siddharth Mishra, directed by Sachin Pathak, and produced by JAR Pictures, ‘Rangbaaz – Darr Ki Politics’ will feature Vineet Kumar Singh and Akanksha Singh in the lead roles.

The show is being directed by Navdeep Singh, who also has Bollywood films like NH10 and Manorama Six Feet Under in his portfolio. Vineet Kumar Singh has appeared in films like Gangs of Wasseypur and Mukkabaaz.

The third season will revolve around Vineet’s character Haroon Shah Ali Baig (also known as Saheb) and his rise from a small town in Bihar to become his most powerful strongman. As he gains power and money through his adventures, he also spends his resources to help people. With his Robinhood image, his character begins to strengthen and he begins to feel accepted and validated. However, does he confuse fear for respect? This rise and fall of the Saheb reflect his journey from a distorted idealism to a manipulative cynic.

A few more actors like Geetanjali Kulkarni, Sudhanva Deshpande, Ashok Pathak, Soham Majumdar, and Prashant Narayanan are also playing key roles in this six-episode series.

Expressing his excitement for being a part of this season, Navdeep says he has been a fan of the old season of Rangbaaz. His attraction to this dark world of gangster politics motivates him to build a new character with different shades of good and bad.

Confirmed! Farhan Akhtar is a part of MCU’s upcoming mini-series ‘Ms. Marvel’

After months of rumors and speculations, Bollywood actor Farhan Akhtar’s presence in the upcoming web series ‘Ms. Marvel’ has been confirmed. However, the confirmation didn’t come through any official announcement, but in the form of an appreciation post from Farhan’s wife Shibani Dandekar. On Saturday, Shibani shared a news report on her Instagram, which claimed to have confirmed Farhan’s role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe mini-series. Farhan himself later shared the story on Twitter, saying that he had ‘a lot of fun’, the show also stars Pakistani actor Fawad Khan.

‘Ms. Marvel’ is part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and is based on Marvel’s first teen Muslim superhero Kamala Khan, who is an Avengers fan and later struggles with her life as a superhero when she learns about her superpowers. The show’s trailer was released in March and several fans were disappointed by the absence of Farhan or Fawad in it.

On Friday, news portal Deadline reported that Farhan has been described as a ‘guest-starring role’ in ‘Ms. Marvel’. The details about his character have been kept hidden for now. Although the report did not include any comment from Farhan or the production, the news was confirmed when Shibani shared a screengrab of it on her Instagram.

Later, Farhan himself confirmed the development by sharing the same story on his social media. “Grateful that the universe gifts these opportunities to grow, learn and in this case have a ton of fun while doing it,” he tweeted.

Notably, rumors of Farhan being a part of the show have been doing the rounds for quite some time. In a conversation with news outlet Eastern Eye late last year, Farhan was seen avoiding this question. When asked to confirm or deny the rumours, he said, “Okay, I have read that too, that’s all I can say.”
On the other hand, Fawad Khan is also in a small role in the series. Fawad had confirmed on his part that he is coming on the show. In an interview with an entertainment website in December, Fawad was asked if he was a part of Ms. Marvel, to which he replied, “Yes I am. I can’t deny that, now I can’t lie, that’s why they themselves have put the news.” Talking about the experience of working in the show, he said, “It was a wonderful experience, it was great fun. The actors I worked with, the people I worked with were a lot of fun, but I’m sorry, I can’t say much more at the moment.

When is ‘Ms. Marvel’ releasing?

‘Ms. Marvel’ will be streamed from June 8 on Disney+ worldwide and on Disney+ Hotstar in India. Iman Vellani is playing the role of Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel in the show. The cast also includes Aramis Knight, Matt Lintz, Sagar Sheikh, Rish Shah, Zenobia Shroff, Mohan Kapoor, Yasmin Fletcher, Laith Naki, Azhar Usman, Travina Springer, and Nimra Buka.

The release date has been pushed due to the coronavirus infection forcing theaters across the globe to either be shut or allowed to open with limited seating capacity. At the same time, this film is one of the series of Hollywood films that have been doing heavy business at the box office. In such a situation, perhaps the makers are thinking of waiting for it without taking any risk.

The third of ‘Inside Edge’ was recently released on Amazon Prime Video and like the first two seasons, there is cricket, there is cinema and there is crime.

The third season showcases the dark side of sports administration, and a lot of research has gone into its presentation. Those who watch the first two seasons will find this season even better.

Looking at the series, one realizes that cricket, which is not even the national sport of our country, is still the biggest sport in our country because a few decades ago, its administration came in the hands of some people who used it as a means of making money. Cricket didn’t remain just a game but turned into a business. With the advent of T20 cricket, the duration of each game became shorter and money became bigger.

Karan Anshuman, the creator of Inside Edge, is a great writer and a great director. Both his works are enough to gauge his talent. On the one hand the web series “Mirzapur” is set in the typical areas of Uttar Pradesh and on the other side “Inside Edge” is being played in the bedrooms of the money people living originally in Mumbai-Delhi. The result of his thinking is that Inside Edge has got the third season and at the juncture where the story stands, it seems that the fourth season will also come. Neeraj Udhwani, Ananya Modi, Vatsal Neelkantan, Vaibhav Vishal, and Nidhi Sharma along with Karan in the writing troupe have made this season very tight.

The way in which the stories of sports administration and the bribes given to the presidents of different cricket boards are mentioned in scenes, it seems that the writers have worked hard. Neeraj Kumar is that policeman of India, due to which all the stories like match-fixing, illegal betting, crime, and blackmail of players came to the fore and India witnessed a huge cricket scandal. He has written books on some of the selected cases handled by him as a police officer and has uncovered many secrets in Betting Syndicate, Dubai, Nepal, Money Laundering, Hawala, and many more. The story of becoming the President of the Cricket Board, which is shown in this series, seems so authentic that the audience may start hating cricket.

It wouldn’t be correct to say that there’s one major character in Inside Edge. Instead, all the characters are important and everyone has the ability to increase or decrease the pace of the story according to their own. However, in season 3, there are three characters that leave a huge impact – Bhai Sahab i.e. Chairman of the Cricket Board Yashvardhan Patil (Aamir Bashir) who is a dreaded and ruthless administrator, as well as a father embarrassed to see tales of his corruption unfold in front of his daughter. The second important role is that of his brother Vikrant Patil aka Vikrant Dhawan (Vivek Oberoi). Vivek did a wonderful job in season 2 as well. He is very solid as a clever and consummate businessman. Richa Chadha in the character of Zarina is the pivot that gives rise to conflict, and crime throughout this web series. Seeing Richa Chadha in this character, it is very easy to understand the inclination of cinema towards cricket.

Tanuj Virwani as Vayu Raghavan and Sayani Gupta as Rohini Raghavan have been proving themselves time and again since season 1. The graph of Tanuj Virwani’s character is very well composed. He is a cricketer, a chick-magnet which he takes advantage of, and he takes drugs. He is a talented cricketer but when he falls in love, he starts looking at his life in the right way. He does not like any emotion other than anger and revenge and he keeps himself away from any emotional situation. Sayani’s character in the character of his sister has also been coined after much research.

Season 3 of Inside Edge is far more powerful than the first two seasons. This season is also being liked due to good writing and good acting, although its promotion was reduced like the first two seasons. It could also be that on the same day Bob Biswas and Sooryavanshi were also being released on other OTT platforms, Amazon did not consider it necessary to spend money on it. The third season of the web series is better than the first two seasons. It’s a must-watch if you can spend 7 hours and 28 minutes. By the way, if you have not seen the first two seasons, do not watch the third one because you’ll be unable to connect the episodes.
