Dhoom 4: Akshay Kumar to play the antagonist? Rumours say so

Rumours that Akshay Kumar will be a part of Dhoom 4 have been doing the rounds for quite some time. Since last year, speculations were rife that either of John Abraham, Hrithik Roshan, Aamir Khan or Akshay Kumar will be the antagonist in the flick. However, in a new development, trade analyst Atul Mohan has hinted that ‘Khiladi’ can indeed be a part of the fourth edition of the Dhoom franchise.

Taking to Twitter, Mohan quoted a source revealing that Akshay Kumar has been confirmed for Dhoom 4. “A highly placed source has revealed that Akshay Kumar has been confirmed for Dhoom 4. Let’s wait for official announcement soon,” he tweeted.

Earlier, Mid-day reported that Akshay is in talks with Aditya Chopra to play the antagonist in Dhoom 4. Quoting a trade source, the tabloid said that “Akshay’s larger-than-life villain act in 2.0 [2018] convinced Adi that he would be the perfect fit for the next instalment of Dhoom”.

The report further said that the duo had some meetings and if all goes well, they will make an announcement by year-end (2019), adding that Abhishek Bachchan and Uday Chopra may not appear in Dhoom 4 and beauty queen Manushi Chhillar may play the female lead.

However, Yash Raj Films released a statement stating that the report is false and there’s no script yet on the film.

“The article “Dhoom to get Khiladi’s touch?” printed in today’s Mid-day is absolutely incorrect and baseless. Dhoom is an extremely important franchise for us but currently, we do not have an idea or script for Dhoom 4. We are always available to clarify any and all queries and strongly urge and request you to kindly double-check stories with us well in advance for us to be able to provide you with all accurate facts,” said the official statement from YRF.

Meanwhile, Akshay is shooting for YRF’s ‘Prithviraj’ in which he is paired opposite Manushi. He has other projects in the pipeline as well, including Sooryavanshi, Bell Bottom, Laxmmi Bomb, Prithviraj, and Bachchan Pandey.

Days ago, he shot for the special episode of ‘Man vs wild’ that is titled ‘Into the Wild’ with survivalist Bear Grylls.
